|My name is Elyse Zucker and I am the professional school counselor for all students at Haskell Elementary School. This is my second year in Haskell and my third year working in the Wanaque School District. Previously I worked as a radio broadcaster, a publicist, and a stay-at-home mom raising my three sons. I have a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from William Paterson University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Television/Radio from Syracuse University. |
My philosophy as a professional school counselor is founded on the belief that each student possesses intrinsic worth and specific rights, and is a unique and dynamic personality capable of personal growth and self-direction. As a school counselor, I serve and advocate for all students while collaborating with families, teachers, administrators and outside agencies. This ensures that all students have access to and are prepared with the knowledge and skills to contribute at the highest level as productive members of society.
The school counseling program at Haskell School is comprehensive in scope, preventive in design, and developmental in nature. It addresses the academic, career and personal/social developmental of all students. School counseling services are available via classroom lessons, small group, and when appropriate, on a short-term, individual basis.
In addition to my school counseling certification, I am a New Jersey Licensed Associate Counselor. As a mental health services provider, I have been trained to work with individuals, families, and groups in treating mental, behavioral, and emotional problems which can adversely affect a student’s academic and social/emotional growth.
I look forward to working with you and your children at Haskell Elementary School. Feel free to contact me at any time.
