• Speech Therapy

Children identified as eligible for special education and related services may be eligible for speech language therapy as deemed necessary by the IEP Team.

Children in kindergarten through 8th grade who are not eligible for special education but demonstrate a speech disorder in the areas of articulation, phonology, fluency, or voice or any combination unrelated to dialect, cultural differences or the influence of a foreign language, which adversely affects the student's educational performance, may be eligible for speech therapy.  Please contact your child’s teacher to make a referral.

Occupational Therapy (OT) is the use of assessment and treatment to develop, recover or maintain daily living skills of students.   Occupational therapists  promote skill development and independence in all daily activities.  Therapists support academic and non-academic outcomes, including social skills math, reading and writing, behavior management, recess, participation in sports, and self help skills.  For a young child it can be learning how to wash hands, going to the bathroom, cutting with scissors, drawing and appropriate play activities.

Physical Therapy (PT) A school based therapist promotes motor development and the student’s participation in everyday routines and activities that are a part of his or her program.  The PT designs and performs therapeutic interventions, including compensation, remediation and prevention strategies and adaptions, focusing on functional mobility and safe, efficient access and participation in educational activities and routines in natural environments.

Counseling is school based and is provided by our district social worker and psychologists.  Sessions can be either individual or within a group and all information shared is confidential with the exception of reported abuse.  Counseling is provided as outlined by a student’s individual educational program through the recommendation of staff or parental request.

Counseling through the district’s guidance counselors is also available to students and spans an array of topics.
